recently dug up one of my favorite songs from my college years - the freshmen by the verve pipe. I remember listening to some of my classmates play this song back then; spring had just hit and we were chillin on the lawn. I’m addicted to the song these days and it’s probably because of both the song and the memories… those were the days.
here’s a clip, not of the verve pipe, mind you, but a good version of the song nontheless.
just got back from SF. what an awesome weekend. dropped by macromedia/adobe to reminisce with some old coworkers, hung out with some of my best friends and had some great food and drinks — all in a city I love. pics to come.
but i came home tonight and was catching up on some blogs and came across this clip by john mayer. he’s letting ppl into his world as he records his new album and i think the fact that he’s sharing this is pretty cool. based on this and other posts/clips i’ve seen, i’m starting to think he’s actually a cool guy. definitely talented.
it’s the end of feb and i’m getting back into the swing of things. i get so mentally taxed and it takes me a few months to prep for a big event and a few months to get over it. in this case, the whole halloween > thanksgiving > xmas trip to asia usurped my mental capacity but i think i’m back to normal now.
been hopeful that i’ll get to focus on creation/small business at work full-time soon, so that has me more conscious of marketing, technology and design after-hours. i guess i’ve identified what motivates me. thought it could just be that it’s always a bit more motivating when you’re not a cog in the wheel but the wheel itself. is that egotistical? maybe.
in any case, saw this interesting article on tropicana’s sleek, minimalistic packaging and how they are pulling it due to consumer complaints. my buddy, Tom, said he couldn’t even locate it in the juice set. in this case, iPod design is NOT in as the product looks totally different.
I keep telling myself that if faced with the designs I would have realized that the changes were too drastic and took the juice to another place altogether.

59 minutes and 57 seconds … is still 59 minutes
I ran the Nike 10K / Human Race this past Sunday. Over the past few months, I ran a total of 2 miles so it was with much naiveness that i decided to set a goal of “under 1 hour”.
fortunately, gloria lent me her watch so I had some way to track my progress during the race — and clearly book it at the end — to make it under 1 hour. yes, 3 seconds under 1 hour, but under 1 hour nontheless. my knees feel it.
the race itself was cool. a little weird running in the dark. TONS of young people racing — i had never seen so many groups of friends come out to run. and a well organized race up until the 1.5 hour bag check line at the end.
either way, not a bad way to spend the long weekend.

digging through old photos from an old hard drive and I came across this photo that i took for a photo project a few years back.
unfortunately, the original file only exists on a defunct hard drive and I haven’t had any luck retrieving it. i do hold on to the fact that i’ll be able to retrieve the file one day.
